Data is split into maintained records, clearly labelled public-directory snapshots, live third-party responses, and credited external projects.
Server research
Operator-researched records cite official pages. Additional directory records come from a dated Minecraft Java Servers API snapshot and identify that source explicitly. Volatile votes, rankings, uptime, and player counts are never copied into maintained records.
Live server status
Point-in-time Java and Bedrock responses are requested through the mcsrvstat.us API. Player counts, MOTD, reported version, and favicon appear only when the provider returns them. A failed response is not permanent-closure evidence.
Modrinth API
Search results and project pages use Modrinth API v2. Downloads, dates, loaders, versions, categories, and environments remain attributed to Modrinth. MineScout does not re-host files.
CurseForge integration
A server-side client is available when CURSEFORGE_API_KEY is configured. Without it, MineScout shows no fabricated CurseForge projects and directs users to CurseForge itself.
Seed sourcing
Seed records preserve the reported edition, version, coordinates, source publication, date, and verification type. They are not promoted as objectively best, and parity between editions is never assumed.
Image permissions
Public imagery ships only when a source and reusable licence are recorded. Server favicons come from live status responses. Missing authorised banners remain missing.
Last verified
A verification date means a maintainer reviewed the cited source on that date. It is not uptime history, a popularity measure, or a promise that the operator has made no later changes.
Corrections and removals
Operators, creators, and players can submit a source-backed correction or removal request. A generated review record is not automatically published.
Known limitations
Server operators change addresses and supported versions. Status providers can time out. Mod APIs can be unavailable. Third-party seed reports can be wrong. MineScout labels these edges instead of hiding them.
